Cell-free protein synthesis is an innovative and powerful tool for the rapid production of proteins, especially in cases where traditional cellular systems are inefficient or unsuitable. This method is particularly well-suited for producing toxic proteins, membrane proteins, and multimeric complexes, all of which are often difficult to express using conventional approaches.
Moreover, cell-free systems are increasingly used in synthetic biology and biotechnology for customized protein synthesis and high-throughput expression screening.
Training Objectives
This intensive, hands-on training led by a cell-free system expert offers an in-depth immersion into protein synthesis using cell-free systems. Combining both theoretical insights and practical skills needed to efficiently express proteins with the CFPS (Cell-Free Protein Synthesis) platform, participants will learn to design DNA templates (linear or circular), produce these templates, assemble the CFPS reaction mix, and purify the target protein.
Special attention will be given to optimizing CFPS for both soluble and membrane proteins, making this training especially valuable for researchers and professionals working on complex protein targets.
Who is this training for?
This training is ideal for :
- Researchers and PhD students in biotechnology, biochemistry, and bioengineering
- Biotech professionals involved in protein production and purification
- Scientists in the pharmaceutical industry working on membrane proteins, enzymes, or therapeutic proteins
- Laboratory technicians looking to enhance their protein expression techniques
- Teams aiming to implement CFPS as a tool for rapid and high-throughput applications.
Prerequisites :
Participants should have a background in molecular biology, protein chemistry, or related fields, and be comfortable with scientific protocols.

Our customers talk about it
"As a beginner in cell-free systems, I was delighted to rely on Synthelis' expertise to get started in the field. Many best practices in cell-free cannot be improvised, and the training provides a clear overview of the key points necessary for successful experiments. The team is available and attentive, the materials are detailed and clear, and I still refer to them for certain experiments.
The training is structured in two parts: a theoretical section where the trainer patiently and insightfully answered our endless questions, followed by a practical part involving the production of a model enzyme and its analysis using various methods (Western Blot, bioluminescence). The pace allows plenty of time to ask questions and to understand each step thoroughly.
A solid foundation for getting started."
